On 16/11/19, the representatives of the Ediciones Ciencia Cultura y Politica (ECCP) present at the Bookfair signed a Manifesto of Solidarity with the people of Bolivia. This was on the instigation of most of the national and international Writers and Editorials present, outraged by the coup in Bolivia.

The Manifesto (see below) expresses its solidarity with Evo Morales and the people of Bolivia. It condemns the coup-actions perpetrated by the Bolivian right wing. It denounces the role of imperialism behind it, and demands the right for Evo Morales to return to his Presidential functions in  Bolivia. The organisers of the Filven as well as those of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture in Venezuela (MPPC) – to whom the Manifesto was delivered – welcomed the Manifesto warmly and organised to have it published.

MANIFESTO OF THE WRITERS AND EDITORS PARTICIPATING IN THE FILVEN 2019, CARACAS 11.11.19:

SOLIDARITY WITH EVO MORALES AND WITH THE BOLIVIAN PEOPLE!

Nicolas Maduro and Ernesto Villegas welcome the Manifesto

From the Plaza Simón Bolívar in Caracas, we –- the men and the women writers who took part in the 15th International Bookfair of Venezuela, along with national and international editors also attending the Bookfair –- firmly repudiate the fascist State coup against Evo Morales who is the democratically elected and legitimate president of the ‘plurinational’ State of Bolivia [1].

We stand in solidarity with the Bolivian brother people, victim of the racist and revanchist violence of a mafia that swoops down to impose its terror with the backing of the meddling OAS (Organisation of the American States) and of the belligerent media corporations. These want the whole of Bolivia thrown in the obscurantist pit of religious fanaticism, to serve the fascist and the racist elites subservient to US imperialism whose only aim is to loot the natural resources of that nation.

The government of Evo Morales is exemplary in protecting and promoting diversity and cultural sovereignty. This outrage which attacks not only the Bolivian people and government, but all the peoples of Patria Grande [2], must not be allowed to pass unchallenged. We demand respect for the Rule of Law (Estado de Derecho) and the return of Evo Morales to his Presidential functions.

It is with especial force that we end here with the reiteration of our full support and solidarity with the valiant people of Bolivia; for the latter opens the path of resistance against the fascism of the ultra-right bent on re-imposing the proscription and plunder of the elites. But Bolivia will win!

THE DEFENCE OF SOVEREIGNTY AND INSTITUTIONALITY IN VENEZUELA – The defence of national sovereignty and ‘institutionality’ in Venezuela is paramount to stop imperialist interference; it is decisive to prevent the imperialist occupation of Latin America. The presidential election of 28 July 2024 was not just any election; and it was not one more election either, after the thirty-one others that the Bolivarian government always won in accord with the constitutional rules (save for two when the right refused to recognise the election).
